Harrow offers Green Deal grant

Construction businesses in Harrow are being offered up to £1000 towards training to become certified Green Deal Installers.

Harrow Council will provide around 100 small and medium sized enterprises around Harrow with funding towards Green Deal Instillation training, which will allow them to take advantage of upcoming energy efficient installation tenders in the borough.

Secured through the Green Deal Communities Scheme, the funding and training scheme will be launched at a Harrow Council networking event this month.

Mark Billington, Head of Economic Development and Research at Harrow Council, said: “The Council is offering a maximum grant of £1000 (including VAT) per enterprise, to pay for the cost of training and certification required to become an accredited Green Deal Installer. It is anticipated that grants will be provided to around 100 Harrow SMEs.”

The Green Deal, which launched last year, offers grants and loans towards the instillation of green technologies in the home e.g. solar panels, energy efficient insulation and double glazing. With funding available for training and certification, the incentive could boost trade opportunities for accredited Green Deal installers, as home owners choose to maintain their properties in an eco-friendly way.
