LB Harrow’s new controlling Labour Group may cancel Fairview’s Gayton Road scheme.
Their manifesto, published before the elections on May 6, says “we will immediately stop the … high-rise overdevelopment of the Gayton Road site”. The scheme is consented and the Section 106 deal signed, but the land deal between Fairview and the Council has not been agreed.
Fairview’s plans involved putting 383 homes on the site of the former Council owned library, and neighbouring Sonia Court. Demolition work has already begun on the former Library, which has been vacant for some time.
