Harrow Council says its activity to promote the economy paid for by the Outer London Fund is paying off.
The past twelve months in Harrow have seen business growth rates outperforming the central London, the number of retail voids in the Town Centre drop below the London and national average, and festive season town centre footfall increase for the secnd successive year.
The council says this is as a clear indication that Harrow Council’s efforts to stimulate the local economy are working. Last year they held a food and dance festival in the town centre in March which drew crowds of 30,000, ran many markets, installed a light garden, and hosted performances by X-Factor contestants.
Harrow Council Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Planning, Cllr Keith Ferry, said: “Supporting the Town Centre and local businesses is a top priority for the Council, they are the economic driving force behind the borough.”
