Harrods has submitted plans for a significant extension to its Hammersmith offices.
The plans, designed by Make Architects, would provide an additional 70,000 sq ft at its 68-72 Hammersmith Road building, which already extends to 190,000 sq ft.The plans include a part-seven and part-nine storey infill extension over the existing car park, with a glazed atrium.
68-72 Hammersmith Road is home to the creative, buying and merchandising, IT, finance, ecommerce, and HR teams – 1305 staff in all. More staff are expected to move to the building allowing more retail space to be developed at their Knightsbridge store.
The retailer thinks that by 2020 they would have no further room for growth in the Hammersmith Road building, so the extension plans are aiming to ‘future proof’ the building for their use.
