Hanworth Recycling Centre plans refused

Sita’s plans for a new recycling centre on Hanworth Trading Estate have been turned down.

The plans were for a centre capable of handling 17,000 tonnes of rubbish a year, and would have involved a yard big enough for 35 lorries. Sita were trying to relocate their existing centre at Shepperton, and told the Hounslow Times that the relocation would have saved 7,000 litres of petrol a year used by their fleet of lorries, and was a key part of their plan to deliver a sustainable recycling service to Hounslow Council.
