Hammerson insist they “remain committed” to Brent Cross, despite their decision to defer the start of the £1.4billion expansion.
As part of a huge restructuring strategy announced earlier this week, the property giant announced they would be delaying construction of the Brent Cross plans in light of the “uncertainty” of the current economic outlook.
However, a spokesperson for Hammerson has confirmed they remain determined to deliver the proposals, that would see the iconic shopping centre double in size, with over 200 new shops, 60 restaurants, a hotel and a cinema.
“In the context of the current turbulent period in UK retail and uncertainty with the current economic outlook, we have taken the decision to defer the start on site at Brent Cross London,” the spokesperson told getwestlondon. “We remain committed to Brent Cross and recognise its role as one of London’s leading retail destinations. We will remain engaged with retailers and stakeholders to deliver our key objectives.”
