LBHF are pushing the idea of a conference centre at Earl’s Court.
Excellent transport links provide the core of the potential at the Earls Court Exhibition centre site. This unique and extensive site provides a major opportunity to contribute to London’s long-term economic growth and to the regeneration of the Borough.
The present conference and exhibition centre is not regarded by events organisers as keeping up with newer competitotrs, but the location – immediately west of Central London – together with one overground and three underground stations gives it great accessibility. Located adjacent to major road and rail infrastructures – including good connections to Heathrow Airport – and at the apex of London’s strategically important “Western Wedge”, Earls Court can be a leading international conferencing destination, and the site has the potential to be a scale development without negative impacts on surrounding neighbourhoods, says the Counncil.
Unlike many large sites, Earls Court is owned by a small group of public and private owners, simplifying the development process, and providing the opportunity to integrate physical and socio-economic regeneration by linking public objectives with private delivery.
Potential for a major development at Earls Court is strong. Substantial office, residential, hotel and retail demand exists for the medium and long-term.
