Hammersmith Housing Co could be building soon

LB Hammersmith & Fulham are forming a Housing Company which will build substantial numbers of new affordable homes using money recycled from asset sales.

The new Company would use money realised from the sale of high-value voids in particular – large family homes in council ownership, which will enable the council to build many more new affordable homes.

He exact sites and numbers of new homes are being worked on at the moment, but the council expects to be procuring development partners soon. This creative use of the asset base is not entirely new, LB Islington, among others, are pursuing a similar project, but it could result in the first new council-built homes in Hammersmith for 40 years.
