Hammersmith approves first cycle docks

The first set of Barclays Cycle Hire docking stations in LB Hammersmith & Fulham have been approved by the council.

The first of 15 sites across the borough was approved on December 18 and the most recent was given the nod this week. So far a total of 430 spaces have been approved.

Cllr Victoria Brocklebank-Fowler, cabinet member for transport and technical services, said: “We are very excited to see the scheme come to the borough, especially as many of these approved sites for docking stations were suggested initially by our residents through the council’s website. Hammersmith & Fulham has one of the highest numbers of cyclists on London’s roads, and we hope that this figure will continue to rise over the coming years with the western expansion of the Barclays Cycle Hire Scheme.”
