Hounslow and Ealing Councils, togehter witht he University of West London, have signed a deal for the Gunnersbury Park sports hub.
Development will now begin in spring 2018, with the site due to open in early 2019, providing a multi-use sports centre and gym, two external floodlit artificial grass pitches, tennis courts, cricket and football pitches.
The £13.8 million project is being jointly funded by Ealing and Hounslow Councils, with a contribution of £2 million from the University of West London.
The councils and the university have now signed a memorandum of understanding to commit to the project.
The park will continue to be owned by the two councils, but the Gunnersbury Community Interest Company (CIC) will be responsible for the management of the park and museum under a 25-year lease.
