Steven Greenhalgh, leader of Hammersmith & Fulham Council, has called for a shake up in social housing.
Together with developer, surveyor and former Conservative parliamentary candidate John Moss, he has authored a paper called “The Principles for Social Housing Reform”. His position is informed by LB Hammersmith & Fulham being the Tory-controlled Borough with the highest percentage of social housing.
The report calls for deregulation, a move to local systems, and enhanced place making, together with rent increases (aimed at boostung valuations) and a right-to-buy-part scheme.
