The hostel that occupied the former Royal Masonic Hospital nurses' home has been forced to close.
The hostel, popular with backpackers, had been a source of annoyance to residents of Ravenscourt Gardens, the road from which it was accessed, for some years. Its popularity with the travelling fraternity made it a noisy and, to them, annoying neighbour.
The Council served an enforcement notice on the hostel a year ago, which gave them 12 months to vacate. There is no word yet on what Globetrotter will do with the property.
