GLF Hotel’s plans for a 116 room hotel in East Acton have been approved.
The Rolfe Judd designed plans, for the site of the former Savoy Cinema at the junction of Western Avenue and Old Oak Road, will produce a 116-room hotel with a restaurant, bar, gym, meeting rooms, and a clock tower. GLF had reduced the height of the scheme and the number of rooms from 125 in response to objectors. The site has been vacant for some time, the cinema building was demolished in the 1990’s and the prospect of bringing it back in to productive use has helped secure the permission.
GLF Hotels told the Ealing Gazette: “The proposed development aims to respect the original intent of the urban planners and replace the lost Savoy buildings with a similar quality and scale of building which will bring back some of the interest and entertainment to the area and provide a focus and statement which reflects the quality and importance of this historically important gateway to Hammersmith & Fulham and London.”
