Gayton Road called in by Minister

Hazel Blears has called in Fairview and Mount Anvil’s Gayton Road devloment, after an appeal by Labour GLA member, Navin Shah.

The Harrow Councillor and Labour Group Leader wrote to Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Hazel Blears urging her to ‘call in’  the application, and she has agreed.

This will excite local opponents of the scheme who were disappointed when Mayor of London Boris Johnson refused to use his veto.

Harrow council’s strategic planning committee approved the proposal – submitted by developers Fairview New Homes and Mount Anvil – in May.

The development proposes 383 flats in five blocks of between four and 10 storeys as well as 200 underground public car parking spaces, 81 residents’ spaces, a cycle rack with room for 383 bikes and a play area, all on the site of a former car park and library.
