Friern Barnet Library has acquired locally listed status, which will affect the potential uses of the building, but not its sale, say the council.
The Barnet Times reports the council has accorded the now closed library locally listed status, but intends to press ahead with the sale of the building as part of its cost-cutting and asset realisation programme.
The library closed last year but is presently occupied by squatters, who are operating a ‘community’ library. Barnet Council is in the process of trying to secure their eviction.
