Free studio giveaway competition launched for new Alperton site

A competition has been launched to give a free studio for two years. It is being run by the charity Artists’ Studio Company and Brent Council to support creative talent and celebrate Brent as the London Borough of culture 2020.

The competition was announced to mark the opening of Artists Studio Company’s first permanent building at 243 Ealing Road, in Alperton.

The Alperton scheme which is delivered with Network Homes and Artist Studio Company provides 27 bespoke studios for creative entrepreneurs at low rents.

Cllr Shama Tatler, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Highways and Planning, said: “This competition has come about through an agreement made by the council during the planning process and demonstrates that we’re serious about ensuring that the regeneration that’s taking place in Brent, directly benefits Brent residents.

“We want to see a diverse range of employment opportunities in the borough for residents and these studios are another example of how we are working to meet the need for affordable workspace for creative industries.

“It’s wonderful that this workspace is now open and I can’t wait to see how the space is used by our local, talented and creative entrepreneurs.”

The winning applicant will get a rent free 98sqft studio for two years, along with free training and development, and join the artist community.
