Free School gets funding

The West London Free School has become the first in the country to have funding approved by the Department for Education.

Education secretary Michael Gove has formally agreed to pay for the school – including money to fund the purchase of Palingswick House in Hammersmith – which means the school can open in September 2011.

Palingswick House needs work, so the school will probably open with 120 pupils in temporary accommodation at Cambridge School, after Cambridge School has itself moved into new premises in Shepherd’s Bush before the start of the next school year.
