Feltham Skills Centre to stay open

Feltham Skills Centre will stay open at its life expired building after plans to move to a new site fell through.

The Centre, in De Brome Road, had been due to move to the High Street in a £20m project, before funding fell through earlier in the year. But West Thames College has since been working with Hounslow Council to secure the long term future of the run down centre, and now hopes to keep it open until 2012, according to the Hounslow Guardian.

A refurbishment through the summer should at least have helped the problems heating the building – it had to be closed in January after a failure.

Applications for courses this year have been at an all time high – with many greatly over subscribed. The Centre provides training in construction, catering, engineering and hairdressing to teenagers.
