Feltham Skills Centre in limbo

The proposed Feltham Skills Centre has also been affected by the LSC funding issues.

LB Hounslow Council granted planning permission to West Thames College in May for the £20m Feltham Skills Centre, but funding was hoped for from the LSC, and now, like all the other West London applicants, including the high profile £140m new campus for Harrow College, the funding has failed to materialise.

The new centre was seen as vital for filling a skills gap in an area which has a high rate of unemployment, Marjorie Semple, principal of West Thames College, told the Hounslow Guardian she was “very disappointed” the LSC had not included the skills centre as one of 13 college capital building projects for funding.

She said: “West Thames College will now actively pursue alternative plans to secure the long term future of this vital centre which provides such an important training provision to the community in the west of the borough.”
