Work has begun to build new affordable homes for families in Feltham.
The scheme sees Hounslow Council working with Hounslow Homes and United House to build 68 new homes on Manor Lane – 32 social rental or low cost sale homes, and 36 for private sale.
Once complete, the scheme will include new toddler play facilities, and nearby Rochester Park will see improvements for the benefit of the local community.
Cllr Steve Curran, cabinet member for housing and education at the council, said: “This scheme will help us provide much-needed quality homes for local people, and will help breathe new life into the area.
“The old housing is past its best, and thanks to a lot of hard work planning and designing this scheme, we’ll be able to provide even more family homes for the area.
“These new homes will help us reach our target of getting 2,500 new affordable homes built or approved to be built, by 2014, giving thousands of local people the homes they need.”
The scheme is being delivered in phases, the first of which will involve building 18 social rented properties and 4 low cost sale homes which should be completed in early 2014. Ten social rented houses and 36 private sale units will then be built, with the whole development being completed by 2016.
