Extra funds for community centres

Central Government has given £2m extra funding for three community centres. The money will relieve pressure on Harrow Council, which is funding the projects.

One of the centres, in Byron Park, Harrow, will be built on the site of a former outdoor swimming pool, while another will be on a disused playground in Kenmore Road, Kenton. The third will be built in Wilson Gardens, West Harrow. It is expected that the new centres will be open by June 2009.

The Government will now put in a total of £12m over 25 years.
