Among the key economic drivers in west London are the creative economy, Heathrow Airport, and the impending arrival of Crossrail. One place where they could all come together is the opportunity that is Hayes. The town is ten minutes from Heathrow now, and will have easier access to the airport and the City once its Crossrail station opens. It is close to the M4, with excellent local, national and global connections, and has a creative heritage as the former home of music giant EMI, who once employed 22,000 people on their Hayes factory site. It has canalside, and a walking route to the rich vein of jobs at Stockley Park. DHL, and many others choose Hayes as their key west London location.   Yet the town has high adult unemployment, and there is division and deprivation in a community which has many first languages, and there are a series of opportunity sites mainly being used as temporary surface car parks. Hayes is a poster child for urban regeneration.   So what does Hayes need, and how can the opportunities that exist here be crystallised and taken? Our stellar panel will discuss these issues, and show how the golden opportunity that is Hayes can become a fabulous investment destination, and a thriving metropolitan centre.

The event is taking place in the new Vinyl Canteen at The Old Vinyl Factory, for which Joint Venture partners Cathedral Group and Development Securities PLC are currently preparing a £250m masterplan. Our hosts are offering guided tours of the site on arrival, to see at first-hand its regeneration potential, as well as the networking drinks in the evening.
