Estuary airport “would crush West London”

Mayoral candidate Ken Livingstone has said that Boris Johnson’s favoured Estuary Airport plan could cause a collapse in the West London economy.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, he said the estuary plan would inevitably mean the closure of Heathrow, and many thousands of jobs lost. One of his campaign team told the Standard that “You can’t have a genuine hub airport in the east without ultimately closing Heathrow”.
