A key manufacturer trade body has backed expansion at Heathrow as critical to national economic success.
The Engineering Employers Federation (EEF) says in its report “Transport for Growth” that the government should allow investment in additional runway capacity at Heathrow. They say that world-class international connectivity is “a vital underpinning of an export-led recovery”, and that the expansion of Heathrow is “the most viable way to maintain the UK’s status as a global aviation hub.”
They call on the Government to be bolder and act faster on major issues. In particular, they ask that the timetable of the Airports Commission be accelerated to give the
next government a clear mandate.
