Demolition has begun on an eco-home scheme in Hounslow.
Willmott Dixon and Catalyst Housing Group are building 18 code level six homes designed by MEPK architects in Staines Road, and have started the demolition work on the site. It will be one of the first developments to hit level six of the code for sustainable homes in an urban location. The development includes PV panels, a biomass boiler and a grey water system.
Willmott Dixon chief executive John Frankiewicz told the Hounslow & Brentford Times: We aim to use this to learn how to make level six homes affordable and replicable so they can be built more often. At the moment, barely 100 homes exist that are this standard and taking into account the climate change challenges we face, we need to have a step change.
They epect to begin construction in July.
