Ealing shortlists for Empire

empire ealingEaling Council is reported to have shortlisted three developers to take over the stalled Empire Cinema site on the Broadway.

Property Week reports the council has shortlisted Land Securities, Salmon Harvester with Cineworld, and Wilson Bowden with Barratt for the role of joint venture development partner for the site.

Empire’s plans stalled following a long-winded planning row, after the demolition of most of the buildings on the site. The retained facade has been held up by scaffolding for several years now, while the site is used for surface car parking. The council has been threatening CPO proceedings for some time, and recently instituted them, saying they would buy the site and sell it to someone who would move it forward.
