Ealing Council has chosen Network Housing Group as preferred bidder for the redevelopment of the Rectory Park Estate in Northolt. This decision aims to kick start the total redevelopment of the estate.
The Rectory Park estate was shown to be performing poorly in a review in 2007. Many of the properties were built more than 50 years ago, are poorly designed and do not meet current standards.
The redevelopment programme will rebuid the estate in phases with “an emphasis on the provision of high quality housing and the provision of safe and welcoming outdoor spaces”. Building work is scheduled to start in summer 2012.
John Hopkins, chair of the Rectory Park Estate Residents’ Association and lead member of the residents Steering Group who have taken part in the selection process, said: “We cant wait to move forward with the plans. The rebuild of the estate will provide better housing and a decent way of life for everyone.”
Council Leader, Councillor Julian Bell, said: “This positive decision means that the residents of the Rectory Park Estate will benefit from vastly improved housing and a safe and pleasant environment for their families.”
