Party says development should be refused.
Despite agreeing that Ealing’s centre needs ‘revitalisation’, the Lib Dem group presented objections based on development mix, density, transport lnks and quality – arguing that any scheme should fit in with Ealing’s predomnantly ‘red brick’ look and feel.
They argue for less housing, overall, both through a reduction in density and through a change in mix in favour of retail and community space.
The criticisms are not wholly convincing – little back up is given for an assertion that many of the housing units are ‘sub-standard’ – but they reflect strong local opposition to the scheme, which Ealing and St George will have to win over, or have the courage to ignore.
