Ealing Empire plans approved

LB Ealing has approved new plans for the stalled Empire Cinema opposite the Town Hall.

The plans to rebuild a new cinema complex behind the listed deco facade of the old one on Uxbridge Road have been stalled for a while, with the demolition pretty much complete, and only the retained facade standing behind hoardings. Empire have now had revised plans approved, which allow a reater proportion of retail catering floorspace in the scheme.

Depsite some disquiet on the planning committee around the variation of the former consent to allow more bars and restaurants, and a suggested condition imposing a one-year completion deadline (which was not passed) the new plans were approved and Empire haveĀ  the usual three years to build out.
