Ealing consults on Acton Town Hall

LB Ealing has opened the next phase of consultation around plans to regenerate central Acton, and make more use of the Aton Town Hall and associated buildings.

Plans for the site published in a new draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) include the provision of a new 25m swimming pool, a trainer pool, a library, leisure facilities, community spaces and council offices. Construction work is scheduled to start in spring 2012, subject to planning permission.

Ealing Council will be inviting potential developers to bid for the project, once the consultation is complete on March 25. Architects have also been drawing up some initial design options for the new leisure centre which will be displayed at an exhibition in March.

Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council, said: “The Acton Town Hall complex is an important local landmark as well as a well used facility. It is crucial that we get this development right. We have been working to put together comprehensive guidance for potential developers to ensure that the finished building meets the needs of local residents and retains the site’s best heritage features.”
