Ealing acts to relieve congestion

LB Ealing is aiming to improve traffic flow at key junctions.

The Council has agreed improvements will be made to "priority congestion locations" in the borough. Various types of work to improve the sites will now be investigated and carried out, including:
- Removal of signs and changes to signals, such as signal timing and additional turning arrows
- Changes to waiting or loading parking restrictions
- Improvements to road markings and kerb works
- Changes to bus lanes and/or bus stops
- Pavement parking

Councillor David Millican, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport said: “Many of the congestion issues around Ealing are caused by the junctions rather than the roads themselves. It tends to be the actual capacity of the junctions that causes the build up of traffic. Now that we have identified the priority areas and junctions in the borough, we can investigate what types of schemes will best provide congestion relief and then get the works underway."
