Hammersmith & Fulham Council has welcomed Legal & General’ s new £275million office and retail development set to attract, they hope, up to 2,500 new jobs.
The building in 245 Hammersmith Road, on the site of Bechtel House, will be 12 storeys tall with space for restaurants, a cafe and a new public plaza. Demolition of the existing building has recently begun.
“I’m delighted by this boost for business in Hammersmith and by the developer’s commitment to provide work for local residents and firms,” said Cllr Ben Coleman, H&F Cabinet Member for Commercial Revenue and Resident Satisfaction, during his visit to the site.
The council say this development, by Legal & General and Mitsubishi, fits with H&F Council’s wider vision for the borough by working with local businesses to help boost the local economy.
“245 Hammersmith Road will set a new standard for the area, creating a modern collaborative working environment, a new green space and restaurants and cafes,” said Simon Wilkes, Head of Business Space Development at Legal & General Property.
