Rules preventing council tenants from running their own businesses from home look set to be relaxed.
LB Hammersmith & Fulham say they will be consulting on relaxing the restriction. Leader Stephen Greenhalgh told the Hammersmith Chronicle; “we want to sweep away the barmy rules that hinder council tenants. Our proposals will set every entrepreneur, from the teenage computer whizz to the grandparent who makes exquisite crafts, free to plot a path to business success from the comfort of their own living room.”
We may not see a sudden surge of street-trading, or of three-wheelers packed with bric-a-brac though, also positive about the move in the Chronicle report were E-Bay, the online auction site. Buying and selling online is seen as the most likely activity.
