Dandara’s scheme for the former post office site (pictured) has been refused. Councillors rejected the plans because they would spoil views of Harrow on the Hill and Harrow Weald, among other reasons.
Councillor Marilyn Ashton, chair of the planning committee said: “The proposal by reason of its excessive bulk, mass, scale and intensity will be overbearing, visually intrusive and detrimental to the character and appearance of the nearby conservation area, area of special character and Metropolitan Open Land, and would be overdominate in the skyline, to the detriment of the long views of Harrow on the Hill and Harrow Weald.”
Afterwards, Andrew Wagstaff, group property director of Dandara, told the Harrow Observer he was “disappointed but not surprised” at the decision and confirmed the company would appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
