Crossrail will not be fully open until 2019, a senior figure in the organisation has said.
New Civil Engineer reports Crossrail chief executive Andrew Wolstenholme as saying that the line will not open fully until the end of 2019. It had initially been planned to open in 2017.
Wolstenholme said at the London Assembly that the current plan is to open the north east leg from Shenfield to Liverpool Street in May 2017, with Paddington to Heathrow airport opening in May 2018. The first central section trains should run from Paddington to Abbey Wood in December 2018 with full operation following at the end of 2019.
