Construction firms back Heathrow

The leaders of some of the UK’s biggest construction firms have written to the Chancellor urging him to move ahead with plans to expand Heathrow.

Ray O’Rourke, of O’Rourkes, and Leo Quinn of Balfour Beatty have both signed the letter, along with the leaders of Bam Nuttall, Mace and Morgan Sindall.

The letter says that pushing ahead with the expansion at Heathrow would add £15.6bn to the UK construction sector’s order book. It says that Heathrow is one of the lagest private investors in the UK, and has provided a steady base or work to the construction sector, and an international showcase of UK construction skills.
