ColArt submit factory site plans

ColArt have submitted outline plans for a redevelopment of their former factory site in Wealdstone.

The plans for the 2.3ha site in Whitefriars Avenue could become homes, offices, a college sports hall and an artists’ colony.

ColArt vacated the factory in 2012 following the relocation of the manufacturing based there to France, and the office staff to White City. They now hope to provide new homes as well as sustain creative industry employment.

The plans involve the demolition of several of the buildings on the site, although the locally listed office building fronting Whitefriars Avenue would be retained and refurbished for employment. This would also contain an Artist Colourmens’ Studio complex for up to 30 artists.

The remainder of the site would provide 195 homes – 10% of which would be affordable – and a sports hall accessed from the Salvatorian College grounds.
