ColArt has confirmed its Wealdstone factory will close at the end of 2011, with the 190 jobs based there heading out of London.
The company has just closed a 90 day consultation, which has confirmed the closure plans, motivated by the inflexibility of the Wealdstone site in Whitefriars Avenue. “Sadly, (our factories) physical location in the heart of a residential area means it cannot absorb the additional capacity required and it has been decided that no other options explored during the consultation process are sustainable”, sadi MD Neil Robson to the Harrow Observer.
The 190 jobs will head either to France or one of ColArt’s other UK locations, all a considerable distance from Wealdstone.
There had been hopes that the factory could moveto the Land Securities owned site at the former Kodak factory, but these have now faded.
