Church asks Government Inspector to step in

A Church refused planning permission for 15 flats and 12 houses on open space adjoining has appealed the decision to the Government Inspector.

St George’s Church, in Pinner View, is short of funds and wants to build 15 flats across a number of two storey blocks, along with 12 three to four-bedroom houses.

Plans were rejected by LB Harrow to protect St George’s Playing Fields, the site of the proposed development. The Church has now called in government inspectors in the hope they will reverse the decision.

There has been significant local opposition to the development, and LB Harrow ruled that St George’s has failed to provide justification for building on an open space. The Church says the space is ‘under-used’. No date has been set for the appeal, but it is expected to be in September.
