The planning consent for Chelsea FC’s new Herzog & de Meuron designed stadium has expired
The three-year time limit on the consent for the 60,000 capacity stadium has run out, with the club not having started work. They paused work in 2018, citing unfavourable economic conditions.
In a statement, the clubs said: “‘We are grateful to all our fans and stakeholders, especially Hammersmith and Fulham Council, for their patience and understanding in the matter. We will continue to consider our options for a new stadium, should economic conditions improve.”
