Chelsea look at Twickenham

Chelsea Football Club are reported to have inquired about the possibility of playing home games at Twickenham for a season.

The club are said to have made an initial inquiry about playing at Twickenham while Stamford Bridge is redeveloped. The BBC reports that the Rugby Football Union has confirmed it has been in contact with Chelsea. Talks are said to be at a very early stage.

Chelsea would use the 82,000-capacity rugby stadium for a season while upping their own capacity from 41,800 to 60,000. They had been linked with a moves to Earls Court, Battersea and White City, but none came to pass.

Twickenham is reported to be to be just one venue under consideration as a temporary home.
