Electric car charging points could soon be available in Harrow.
The charge points that are currently available at locations in central London, are set to be introduced to the borough with plans to install a charging point at Harrow’s Civic Centre this year. The first charge point will be located at the council offices, giving motorists visiting the local authority HQ the opportunity to charge up their electric cars on-site.
Portfolio holder for Environment and Community Safety, Cllr. Philip O’Dell said: “Harrow Council is among a number of outer London boroughs that are leading the way in supporting greener vehicles in a bid to help improve air quality and protect our environment. Through installing the charging point in a more visible location at our site, we are sending a clear message to visitors and staff that we support electric vehicles and are keen to see their use expanded.”
The proposed charge-up point is intended to be part of the Mayor of London’s ‘Plugged in Places’ initiative which aims to ‘electrify’ London.
