Brent Council has a new portfolio holder for Regeneration, Growth, Employment and Skills after Councillor Roxanne Mashari decided to stand down from Cabinet.
Councillor Shama Tatler has been appointed to the Cabinet and is standing down from her position on Scrutiny Committee to concentrate on her new Cabinet role.
Councillor Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said: “I would like to thank Roxanne for her excellent service in Cabinet. She has been a strong advocate for fairness and equality in Brent, and has led on a number of landmark policies on the Council. Roxanne played a central role in making Brent the first authority in the country to offer incentives to local businesses who paid the Living Wage.
“She also ushered in a rethink of the way the Council interacts with vulnerable and low income households in debt, introduced the Cleaner Brent app and developed a collaborative approach with our local community libraries. I am confident that Roxanne will continue to do an excellent job representing the residents of Welsh Harp and supporting the work of Brent Council in the future.”
Councillor Shama Tatler said: “I’m really excited about the opportunity and can’t wait to get to work.”
