The Bush Theatre has been named London Theatre of the Year, despite, or pehaps because of its move in 2011 to the former Sepherds Bush Library.
The awards is given by the Stage magazine, and comes in the year it moved from its former home on the Green to the old library building. The move was central to LB Hammersmith & Fulham’s hopes to create a cultural quarter centred around the theatre.
The Stage praised The Bush for its “imagination and enthusiasm”, and said it had turned “moving premises into an artistic triumph”.
