The plans, submitted by the council as part of their regeneration of the South Kilburn Estate, will deliver 229 homes on the site of the tower block at 1 Cambridge Road. The scheme, designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands working with Alison Brooks Architects, involves the demolition of the existing Bronte House and Fielding House and the building of 126 flats for market sale, and 103 for social rent together with associated landscaping, a new public square and the rearrangement of the Cambridge Road/Kilburn Park Road junction.
At the same time the council has submitted outline plans for a redevelopment of the British Legion site on Albert Road which will produce 144 new homes and three commercial units. The plans involve the demolition of the existing building.
