Brent runs small business support programme

Small businesses in Brent can now attend a range of free support programs specially tailored to help them grow.

The Brent for Business events programme will support SMEs to learn new skills, access new opportunities, and grow their business.
Brent Council is teaming up with Action Coach to hold ‘Grow your business’ workshops in June and July 2019, as the first project out of this programme.

Sessions are divided to cater for mature and start-up businesses and will cover marketing, customer service, starting a business, and techniques in growing sales.

The program is open to business owners at all stages of their journey from those wanting to launch a business to others looking for key skills to run more efficiently and grow.

Small and medium-sized businesses are also set to benefit from more than £100 million in investment from the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. The Greater London Investment Fund that was announced by the Mayor is set up to specifically target businesses which have had difficulties in securing crucial investment.

Businesses can now apply for investment by contacting either of the independent fund managers – MMC Ventures and The FSE Group – directly.

Cllr Shama Tatler, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Highways and Planning, said: “We recognise the value of SMEs and through our Brent for Business programme we want to help them to thrive now and in the future. The recent investment announced by the Mayor of London will go some way to helping thousands of businesses in Brent and across the Capital to grow and continue to play a vital part in creating local jobs for people.”

Amit Sodha, Action Coach’s Business Coach, said: “It’s great to see authorities like Brent Council playing such an active role in supporting local businesses during uncertain times. We’re certainly excited to partner with them to deliver a series of Business Growth Masterclasses that promise great value, practical advice …and off course, edutainment!”
