Brent looks at developer charges

Brent Council’s Scrutiny Committee has set up a special task group to examine Section 106 payments and the Community Infrastructure Levy.

The task group is being led by Councillor Harbi Farah and will review how the charges are made, the rates of charging, and the mechanism for how the money is spent on infrastructure in the borough.

CIL was introduced in Brent around two years ago and requires developers to contribute into a general pool of funding to improve infrastructure in the borough. The task group will look at how effective it has been and how it could develop in the future, and will report back to the Scrutiny Committee with a report and recommendations.
