Brent Cross plans in

Hammerson and Standard Life Investments have submitted detailed plans for the £1.4bn redevelopment of the Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

Designed by architects Callison RTKL and Chapman Taylor, the proposed development would double the size of the centre to 2m sq ft. The plans involve refurbishing and extending the shopping centre for more than 200 new shops and stores, 60 restaurants, a cinema complex and a hotel, along with a new town square. The existing bus station will be relocated.

A new landscaped bridge will cross the North Circular linking with Brent Cross South, a regeneration area being led by Argent Related.

The partners say work could start as early as summer 2018.
