Brent launches culture fund

Brent Council has announced a £500,000 fund for creative and cultural activities, linked to their year as London Borough of Culture in 2020.

Individuals will be able to bid for up to £3,000 while organisations can apply for grants up to £10,000. This could be for projects of all shapes and sizes and across all art forms.

The 2020 Culture Fund launches on 17 January 2019 with an informal evening at The Yellow in Wembley. In addition, the London Borough of Culture team are offering free one-to-one guidance and funding skills workshops throughout the application period.

Lois Stonock, Artistic Director of London Borough of Culture 2020, said: “The 2020 Culture Fund is an opportunity for Brent to be ambitious and will help to fill the 2020 programme with a range of diverse and high-quality events and projects. We are keen to see partnerships across the borough and would also encourage London-wide organisations to apply in collaboration with grassroots community-based organisations to do something spectacular over 2020.”

Cabinet Member for Public Health, Culture & Leisure, Cllr Krupesh Hirani, said: “Now that we have successfully won the London Borough of Culture 2020 title, this fund is a fantastic opportunity for the diverse and creative communities in Brent to be part of such an exciting programme. Make sure you take up the support on offer to get the best out of your applications.”
