Brent Council’s cabinet has approved an officers report recommending the submit a bid for Alperton and Wembley to become a Greater London Assembly ‘Housing Zone’.
The Housing Zone bids are to be submitted to the GLA later this month and if successful will mean that more new and affordable homes will be built in the Alperton and Wembley Growth Areas, and delivered at an accelerated rate.
Cllr Margaret McLennan, Lead Member for Housing and Regeneration said: “We are doing everything we can to build much needed new and affordable homes in the Borough.
“If successful, these bids will allow us to accelerate our regeneration programmes and provide the basis for ongoing discussion with local people about the community facilities that are much needed to support this population growth.”
